Edison Home Health Care (“Edison”) is a New York based company providing traditional home care services, as well as Fiscal Intermediary services for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP). Edison services thousands of patients throughout NY State and is accredited by the Joint Commission –  widely recognized as the highest standard in healthcare accreditation.

Home Care

Edison is a leading home care provider in New York with offices in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens (Ridgewood, Jamaica, and Far Rockaway), Nassau County, Yonkers (Westchester County), Rockland County, and Buffalo. Edison provides home health aide services and home attendant caregiver services to the elderly and disabled. Edison accepts many forms of payment and is contracted with the Department of Social Services to provide Medicaid Waivers including NHTD, TBI, and OPWDD. Edison is also contracted to provide services to Veterans under the VA home care program. Additionally, Edison provides fiscal intermediary services for CDPAP, a Medicaid program that allows consumers to hire a loved one who can get paid to take care of family in NY. Family caregivers receive pay based on an hourly rate, and the family caregiver’s salary depends on their rate and hours worked.

Our Scholarship

Title: CDPAP Department of Edison HHC Educational Scholarship

The CDPAP Department of Edison Home Health Care offers one $1,000 educational scholarship annually. To apply, please submit a 500 – 1,000 word essay outlining what you would do to improve healthcare. Topics of discussion can be broad and span areas such as systematic issues (e.g. insurance structures), treatment methodologies, patient psychological well-being, or even specialty specific areas. Don’t be afraid to be creative.

Essays must be the original work of the applicant and may not have been previously published or entered into any other competition or promotion.

The winner of the scholarship will be contacted via phone or email. The name of the winner will be published on this page.

Scholarship funds provided by Edison will be sent via check to the student’s college, university, or educational institution. Funds are to be applied to qualified educational expenses (including tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board).

Terms and Conditions

Applicants must be 18 years or older to apply, and must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or U.S. permanent resident.

Applicants are allowed only 1 submission per Scholarship year. Applicants may apply for the Scholarship again in following years.

Essays must be the original work of the applicant and may not have been previously published or entered into any other competition or promotion. Essays must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and must not in any other way violate or depict a violation of applicable laws and regulations. They also may not contain content that infringes any third-party rights (including but limited to any trademarks or copyrighted materials).

Applicants warrant that all content they submit does not infringe on any third party proprietary rights or otherwise violate any applicable state, federal, local or provincial laws.

Edison Home Health Care (“Edison”) is not responsible for any technical issues that may prevent applications from reaching the review committee.

Applicants are responsible for costs of applying, including online access charges and data/usage charges if entering via a mobile device.

Incomplete submissions may be discarded and not considered for the Scholarship. Edison may, but is in no way obligated to, contact applicants with incomplete submissions to request more information.

By submitting an application, applicants grant Edison the right to publish their name, photo, essay, college or university, and award on any of Edison’s websites, social media profiles, email newsletters, or via any other medium (e.g. press release, etc.). Each applicant grants Edison the royalty-free, irrevocable, and perpetual right to use, publish, and broadcast his/her name, picture, image, likeness, voice, biographical information, and entry, for the purposes of advertising, marketing and promoting Edison, its products and its services, and/or in relation to publicity regarding the Scholarship and/or future promotions that may be sponsored by Edison, on a perpetual basis throughout the world and in any medium or format now existing or hereafter created, including but not limited to, internet streaming and downloading, on websites including Edison’s websites, other digital transmission methods, mobile applications, television broadcasts, trade-shows, and in print, and on any platform including but not limited to televisions, computers, and mobile devices, without notice to, or consent or approval from, or any royalty, payment or other compensation to, the applicant. The foregoing license grant includes the right and license to digitize, modify, alter, edit, adapt, create derivative works, display, publicly perform, exhibit, transmit, broadcast, reproduce, exploit, sell, rent, license, otherwise use, and permit others to do any of the foregoing, with respect to the applicant’s entry. Pursuant to the foregoing, each applicant agrees to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless Edison from and against any claims, damages or liability arising from or related to the use of his or her application, including but not limited to claims of defamation, invasion of privacy or rights of publicity or copyright infringement.

Any and all materials and information submitted to Edison for the purpose of Scholarship application shall become the property of Edison. Each applicant irrevocably assigns and transfers to Edison all rights in his or her entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights.

All federal, state, and local taxes, fees, and surcharges in connection with the Scholarship prize ($1,000) are the sole responsibility of the winner.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAWS, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL EDISON HOME HEALTH CARE (“EDISON”), ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS HAVE ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE RESULTING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM, WITHOUT LIMITATION, YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE SCHOLARSHIP PROMOTION; (B) YOUR RECEIPT, USE OR REDEMPTION OF A PRIZE OR YOUR SHARE OF A PRIZE; OR (C) YOUR INABILITY TO RECEIVE, USE OR REDEEM THE PRIZE OR A SHARE OF A PRIZE, UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY CAUSE OF ACTION WHETHER IN TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), CONTRACT OR OTHERWISE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER ANY EDISON PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, THE EDISON PARTIES EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER STATUTORY, EXPRESS, OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE SCHOLARSHIP OR THE PRIZE. IN NO EVENT WILL THE EDISON PARTIES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SCHOLARSHIP, THE PRIZE, OR THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

IN NO EVENT WILL THE EDISON PARTIES’ LIABILITY TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SCHOLARSHIP OR THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, UNDER ANY THEORY, EXCEED FIFTY DOLLARS ($50).

You agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold Edison and its subsidiaries, and their respective directors, officers, employees, successors and assigns, and any other persons and organizations related to the Scholarship promotion, harmless, from any and all claims, injuries, damages, expenses or losses to person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that arise from your participation in the Scholarship promotion or acceptance or use of a Prize or share thereof, including without limitation (i) any condition caused by events beyond Edison’s control that may cause the Scholarship promotion to be disrupted or corrupted; (ii) any claim that an application entry infringes a third party’s intellectual property or proprietary rights; (iii) any injuries, losses, or damages (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the Prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the Prize, or from participation in the Scholarship promotion; (iv) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Scholarship promotion or any technical errors that may impair your ability to participate in the Scholarship promotion; (v) errors in the administration of the Scholarship promotion; or (vi) any non-compliance by you with these Terms and Conditions.

In the event that any provision herein is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Terms and Conditions shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. If there are any discrepancies or conflicts between printed, digital or other promotional materials, or any other written or verbal representations regarding the Scholarship promotion and these Terms and Conditions, the provisions of these Terms and Conditions will govern and control.

Except where prohibited by law, you agree that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Scholarship promotion, the Terms and Conditions, or any Prize awarded hereunder, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action.

If a claim is not otherwise resolved through direct discussions, it shall be resolved exclusively by final and binding arbitration administered without resort to any form of class action. Any claim shall be arbitrated on an individual basis and will not be consolidated in any arbitration with any claim of any other party.

EACH APPLICANT IRREVOCABLY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO SEEK INJUNCTIVE OR EQUITABLE RELIEF OR ANY TRIAL BEFORE A JUDGE OR A JURY.

The Scholarship prize may be forfeited and a different winner selected if Edison does not receive communication back from the winner within 7 days of outreaching to the winner to notify him or her that he or she has won. Voicemail or Email communication will both independently be considered outreach for the purpose of this clause.

Edison reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Scholarship for any reason.

Edison may disqualify your application for violation of any part of these Terms and Conditions.
