What are the Maximum Hours for CDPAP?
There are actually two parts to this question:
- The number of hours that a given consumer can be approved to receive home care services under CDPAP.
- The amount of hours that a single caregiver may work for their consumer in a week.
For the purpose of clarity, we will present these as two questions to address each of these items:
Q. What are the maximum number of hours that a consumer can be approved to receive home care services under the CDPAP Medicaid program?
A. There is no maximum number of hours and consumers may receive up to 24 hours of care, 7 days a week. The consumer’s Medicaid Managed Care plan will usually determine how many hours they receive.
Q. What are the maximum number of hours that a consumer can have a single caregiver work per week?
A. While there is no official, accross-the-board cap on the amount of hours that a caregiver can work in a single week, most CDPAP fiscal intermediaries will try to limit hours above 40 per-week so as to limit overtime costs.
